Post- Partum Hair Loss...Why Do They Not Tell You This Happens?!

Picture the scene....

You have found out you are pregnant (and congratulations if this is you!) And after the first 12 weeks, your body starts to be flooded with the hormones that make your skin glow and your mane the BEST it has ever looked!

Totally Winning!

Time goes on, baby arrives and everything is being done in a mumma-bubble!

You don't get much sleep, which is cool when you spend every second staring at your beautiful creation...literally every second!

You spend your days (and nights...not than you can decipher the difference between the two!) In sweats and sporting a mum bun that you actually can't remember the last time it met a brush!

But it's totally ok!

Then things start to change....the lush hormones that grew your baby and made you look like a goddess start to dwindle....slow enough so you don't notice much and the one day....BOOM!

You notice that your hair has thinned at the roots, and doesn't look as lush as it did in pregnancy....or in my case, there's balding patches and the widows peak is looking far more widowy than normal....WTH??

If only you knew this is a possibility......well, it very much is! It called Post-Partum Alopecia, or Telogen Effluvium, and here's the gig.....

IT'S TOTALLY NORMAL!!!

Honestly, I promise it is par for the course of pregnancy, but I also promise you this.....your hair will return, in time....it really will!

When your body starts to adjust back to its normal levels, you will see some changes to your whole self, which includes bloating, breakouts of spots or acne or, on the opposite side of the fence, Insanely dry skin!

And of course, hair loss and hair thinning....and you know what?? THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT AT ANTENATAL!!

There are things you can do to help your confidence while your hair is growing back!

  • Take a Great Hair Multivitamin Shot to grow your hair long and strong.
  • Only wash your hair when necessary, as over washing your hair can make it look worse!
  • Use a great Dry Shampoo in between washes, a dry shampoo can give body and texture to your hair, making it look thicker.
  • Don't tie it up too tight! You may think it hides the thinning patches but actually, it makes it looks worse.
  • Eat a hair friendly diet, think fish, eggs, veggies and nuts for a great balance.

I know it's a massive confidence hit when you lose hair, under every circumstance.

But this time, it will grow back and it will be beautiful again ❤
